Chiropractic Adjustments/Manipulations have been shown to be a safe and effective treatment for pain and injury. They correct the subluxations/misalignments of the vertebrae in the spine. They are performed by applying gentle, but firm pressure to a bone and giving a short, quick stretch. The goal is to restore the bone to its original, natural state, aligned and unrestricted.
Adjustments can be performed while sitting, standing, or lying down. Adjustments performed with the aid of a tool, the Activator, do not involve the fast stretch and cracking noise often associated with chiropractic treatment. The cracking sounds that may be heard with an adjustment are bubbles of air being released.
Adjustments can leave you with a greater sense of well-being, calm, and most importantly, on the road to a life without pain. Following an adjustment, patients do not need to restrict their activity but go about their usual but now less painful life.
Adjustments have been shown to:
- Decrease pain.
- Increase blood flow.
- Increase pain tolerance levels.
- Increase range of motion.
- Increase the bodies’ production of anti-inflammatories like melatonin and pain reducing endorphins.
- Reduce blood pressure.
- Reduce tension and muscle knots.
